2020 Census Year Out Kick-Off

The Connection Committee will be working with Be Counted Detroit Census 2020 on their campaign to Educate, Motivate and Mobilize the citizens of Detroit, to make sure everyone gets counted.  The city of Detroit will lose $1,800 a year for every person that is not counted. The federal government distributes more than $14 billion in funding to the state of Michigan each year based on the census count for programs including Medicaid, Food Stamps, school lunches, special education and road construction.

That's why Be Counted Detroit Census 2020 is making a big push in advance to get people counted. There will big a big census kickoff event this coming Monday April 1, 2019 at  11 a.m. at Focus: HOPE -- 1400 Oakman, Detroit.

Attend and find out:
What the City's plan is to get everyone counted.
How community groups and non-profits can get funding for local outreach.
How to sign up to be a "Census Captain" in your neighborhood.
Where to apply for good-paying U.S. Census jobs to get out the count in Detroit.
Pizza and salad following the event. For more information, send an email to detroitcensus2020@detroitmi.gov.
