Let's Read Volunteer Information Sessions

Let’s Read Volunteer Program

Detroit Public Schools Community District believes that it is critically important to build a culture of literacy within the school system and throughout the city. To accomplish this, they need our support by volunteering for the Let’s Read Program

If you would like to volunteer to tutor a child in reading, please complete a volunteer background check form and submit with a readable copy of your Michigan State Driver’s License or State ID. 

After your information is uploaded to the system, and before starting your service at your selected school site, we are asked to attend a volunteer information session. 

Information Sessions will include:

• An overview of the Let’s Read volunteer program

• Introduction to materials and suggested activities to use when working with students

Upcoming Let’s Read Volunteer Information Session:

Thursday, May 9, 5:30-7:00 PM

They are asking that volunteers park on Lawton Street or the parking lot behind the school and enter Red Door 3. Someone will be there to greet and Buzz in as needed.
