Sorors, I recognize that October is asking a great deal of us, especially so soon after our Regional Duffle Bags for Dignity service project. Thank you for continuing to answer the call. With at least 140 volunteers already expected, including Metro 12 sorors and sorors from across the country and around the world, October 24 is shaping up to be an extraordinary demonstration of what happens when we unite in service.
On October 24, however, Lambda Pi Omega will not be serving alone—we will be hosting sorors from our Metro 12 chapters, from across the country, and even from around the world! As the host chapter, we want to welcome our visiting sorors with the warmth, organization, sisterhood, and spirit of service that represent Lambda Pi Omega so well.
We truly need ALL HANDS ON DECK!
DAY OF SERVICE & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
VOTE • SERVE • SUPPORT • EMPOWER
Saturday, October 24, 2026
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Wayne County Community College District – Northwest Campus
8200 Outer Drive West, Detroit, MI 48219
Our morning will feature Party at the Polls, encouraging community members to participate during the early voting period, as well as a GOTV Voter Education Forum with AARP, providing nonpartisan voter education, information, and resources.
SERVICE IN ACTION
Throughout the morning, we will simultaneously complete three major service projects:
825 Winter Warmth Items
We will pack 825 Winter Warmth items to provide comfort and warmth for students at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School and Schulze Academy for Technology & Arts.
10 Duffle Bags for Dignity
In support of AKA Foster the Future: From Here to Hope, we will pack 10 Duffle Bags for Dignity with essential and comfort items for young people in foster care.
25 Teacher Appreciation Gifts
We will prepare 25 Teacher Appreciation Gifts recognizing educators for their dedication to educating, encouraging, and supporting our youth.
Because these projects will happen simultaneously and donations will continue arriving throughout the morning, we need sorors serving in a variety of roles—from packing, donation collection and sorting, Party at the Polls, hospitality/refreshments, setup, cleanup, and more.
TWO WAYS TO SUPPORT: DONATE AND/OR VOLUNTEER!
DONATE:
Sorors are encouraged to purchase an items from our Amazon Wishlist and bring donations to the October 11 Chapter Meeting or the October 24 Day of Service & Civic Engagement.
